NEW ULM – St. Paul’s Preschool students treated parents to a spring concert, Tuesday.
The preschoolers entertained parents with a series of songs celebrating their faith, love of country and reading abilities.
The students opened the concert by singing “My God is so Great” and “Jesus Loves Even Me.” Next the kids recited nursery rhymes, such as “The Crooked Man.” The preschoolers were even able to bring out props. For the songs “Tap Your Sticks” and “Woodpecker” the kids used rhythm sticks as percussion.
Preschool teacher Becky Guenther said sometimes it can be risky to give students sticks, the class took direction well.
For the patriotic part of the program the students sang “Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue” and “God Bless America,” all while waving American flags.
Guenther said “God Bless America” a staple of the spring concert and was a favorite among the preschoolers.
The concert concluded with a reading of “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom” by Bill Martin Jr. & John Achambault. The classic children’s book is about all the letters of the alphabet climbing a coconut tree. After the programming each of the students were gifted a copy of the book to keep.
Tuesday’s performance was the first of four performances. The other three preschool classes will be performing each morning through Friday.
