209 Pub & Grill secures noise variance for fundraiser
NEW ULM – The New Ulm City Council approved a noise variance on Tuesday for a fundraising event hosted by 209 Pub & Grill.
The variance would allow 209 Pub & Grill to have amplified music from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, on Minnesota Street between 2nd and 3rd N. Street during the fundraiser. Minnesota Street between 2nd and 3rd N. Street will be closed during the event, with a stage located near 3rd N. Street.
New Ulm’s city code prohibits amplified noise between 9 pm and 9 am on Saturday without a variance.
In order to grant a variance, the city must hold a public hearing and notify all property owners within 500 feet of the hearing. The city council held a public hearing on the noise variance during Tuesday’s meeting, but no objections were raised in person or in writing.
The council unanimously passed the variance.
The Aug. 22 fundraiser will provide support for the New Ulm Fire & Police Departments, Humane Society and scholarships for Miss New Ulm.
