NU man airlifted after train collision

NEW ULM — A 25-year-old New Ulm male walking beside the tracks was injured Friday near Minnesota Street and 17th St. North, according to New Ulm Police.

Joseph Daly was walking along the side of the tracks, wearing over the ear headphones when he was struck from the side by a Canadian Pacific Railroad train at 4:26 p.m. Friday.

Daly told police he did not hear or feel the train coming. A witness and railroad employees confirmed how the incident happened, police said.

Allina Ambulance Service transported Daly to New Ulm Medical Center before he was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with possible internal injuries, police said.
