Teen drowns at Mound Creek County Park

SANBORN — A 15-year-old Mountain Lake male drowned at Mound Creek County Park Sunday.

The Brown County Sheriff’s office has not released the name of the deceased, and will not until the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office completes the autopsy.

A GoFundMe for funeral costs identifies the deceased as Camron Keosaykham.

The fundraiser was established by Sabrina Christians, who said she did so on behalf of Camron Keosaykham’s parents Ny and Khamdaeng Keosaykham. Christians said the Keosaykhams had been at Mound Creek celebrating Mother’s Day.

“The day started off with lots of laughs and grilling before we all went swimming,” she said. “Camron was doing what he loved. He loved swimming and being with his friends. Camron unexpectedly drowned and passed away while swimming in the lake.”

A media release from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office states it received a call about a potential drowning at 3:32 p.m. The teen had been swimming when he began to struggle, went under the water, and did not surface. The Sheriff’s Office stated there were witnesses to the drowning.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Springfield Police Department, Springfield Ambulance and Fire First Responders, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Sandborn Fire 1st Responders, Windom Fire Department, Centra Care, Life Link, Minnesota State Patrol, and MN Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers in recovering the teen.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:38, after receiving emergency medical services. The victim was then transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.

As of writing, the GoFundMe sits at $3,053 of its $10,000 goal. For more information, visit https://gofund.me/e58459e5
