NEW ULM -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) advises motorists to use caution on Highway 14 and Highland Avenue beginning Wednesday, March 6.
Workers will begin removing trees and brush in preparation for construction of a roundabout at the intersection. Motorists are advised to watch for workers and equipment along the shoulder.
Work needs to be done early in the year to prevent protected bats from making their homes in trees. Work is expected to be done by March 7, weather permitting.
Tree removal is preliminary work for construction of a single-lane roundabout at Highway 14/Highland Avenue. The project includes new sidewalk, trail and lighting. Construction is expected to begin in early May and continue until early July, weather permitting.
M.R. Paving & Excavating, Inc. of New Ulm was awarded the project with a $2,265,772.52 bid.
