Hanska woman dies in Linden Township crash

BROWN COUNTY — A 75-year-old Hanska woman died in a two-vehicle crash reported at 2:24 p.m. Thursday at CR 20 and 140th Avenue, Linden Township.

Donna Steffensmeier of Hanska was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of her injuries, according to a Brown County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Dean Steffensmeier, 76, of Hanska, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox with Donna Steffensmeier as a passenger, westbound on CR 20 when he collided with a 2019 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Steven Don Howard, 72, Mankato. Dean Steffensmeier was treated at the scene and flown by Mayo Air Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Rochester. Steven Howard was treated at the scene and released.

No alcohol or drug use was suspected. All occupants wore seat belts. Front and side air bags deployed.

Assisting agencies were Hanska First Responders and the Hanska Fire Department, Allina (ground) Ambulance, Mayo Air Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol and Brown County Sheriff’s Office. The Minnesota State Patrol and Brown County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash.
