GFW presents ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ exciting challenge for GFW director

WINTHROP -- Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) Theatre Arts presents "The Play That Goes Wrong" High School Edition at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 in the high school auditorium.

Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, the Olivier Award-winning comedy offers the purchase of advance tickets at the middle and high school offices or at the door. Tickets are $5 for students, $7 for adults.

The 1920s whodunit includes an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can't play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines).

The play-within-a-play is part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes.

"This is my first time as a director and it has been an exciting challenge," said director Joe Vos. "We have a dedicated group of students that pour their heart and soul into this."

"I have taken pride in the fact that this is truly their play. From gathering costumes, set build, painting, props and lines, they really work together. I think it will show," added Vos. "I must say that this has been a team effort. I have to give a huge thanks to my assistant director, Rachel Dauer. Without her continued contributions, we would not be where we are. Also, I would like to thank the TCA (Thunderbird Community Arts) for volunteering and willingness to help out where they can."
