Cathedral crowns new king and queen

NEW ULM -- Ben Blomberg and Helen Fischer were crowned king and queen at Cathedral High School's Pepfest Sunday.
They were crowned by returning king and queen Miles Boesch and Lilly Brennan. Boesch, son of Karl and Amy Boesch, is currently attending South Dakota State University in Brookings. Brennan, daughter of Kelly and Jeremy Brennan, is studying at the Model College of Hair Design in St. Cloud.
The returning king and queen were given gifts to hand out to the new king and queen candidates. The kings had corsages and queens had bouquets. The candidate who had the school color maroon corsage/bouquet was the winner.
Blomberg is the son of Margaret and John Blomberg. He plays football, basketball, and golf. Blomberg is also involved in several activities. He is the Student Council treasurer, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of the knowledge bowl team. Ben's advice to younger kids is, "It's better to finish quickly than to never finish at all."
Fischer is the daughter of Mary and Phillip Fischer. As an athlete, she is a cross country and track runner and a dancer. She participates in activities such as the fall musical, yearbook club, knowledge bowl, National Honor Society, the Diocese of New Ulm COR team, and as Secretary of Student Council. Her advice to underclassmen is to enjoy every moment, don't place your identity in others, and have everything you do be for the glory of God.
The homecoming volleyball game is Thursday, September 28 at home vs. GFW at 7 p.m. Friday features the homecoming parade at 1 p.m. and the homecoming football game vs. Madelia at 7. The homecoming dance is Saturday, starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 11.
