New Ulm, Sleepy Eye men die in crashes
MORTON — A 36-year-old New Ulm man and a 31-year-old Sleepy Eye man died in separate vehicle crashes in Morton Tuesday night and in Watonwan County Wednesday morning.
Jacob Samuel Hawn of New Ulm was driving a 2013 Volkswagon Jetta westbound on TH 19 when it ran off the road at E. Monument Dr. in Morton and rolled near Brook Drive at about 10:05 p.m. Tuesday.
There were no other vehicles involved. Hawn did not wear a seat belt, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Morton Fire and Centra Care Ambulance assisted.
Dylan Maas, 31, of Sleepy Eye died in a two-truck crash on TH 30 and CR 5, Adrian Township, Watonwan County reported at 8:23 a.m. Sept. 20.
Maas was driving a 1995 Freightliner tractor eastbound on Highway 30, when he collided with a 1998 Kenworth tractor driven by Cody J. Crowley, 32, Golden Valley. Maas died at the scene. Crowley was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis with life-threatening injuries. It was not known if the drivers wore seat belts.
Assisting agencies included Darfur and Butterfield Fire Departments and First Responders, the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office, Butterfield Police and St. James Ambulance.
