NEW ULM-- The New Ulm Public School Board unanimously approved a ten-year maintenance plan Thursday.
The maintenance plan is a required yearly update to ensure board members are aware of the plans going forward for keeping school buildings in good shape.
Finance Directer Barbra Roessler described the current plans taking shape this summer and future plans within the maintenance plan.
"To remind you some of the things we’re working on this summer, the Career and Technical Education [building's] roof," Roessler said. "That’s one of our larger projects we’re working on and that’s the gutter and the roofing and all that. Our middle school, the carpet replacement in our music suite. We still have some more business to do. The Jefferson mechanical systems is always in the mix."
Board Clerk Amanda Groebner asked if there are any big projects coming up in the future.
"No, the big one really is this year with the CTE roof," Roessler said. "We are looking at doing some rooftop units or some HVAC of some sort. We have some extra dollars still available and doing those types of projects is allowed. We may be looking at doing something like that to improve the quality of air."
Board member Denny Waloch made the motion to approve the maintenance plan and Vice-Chair Jonathan Schiro seconded.
