Nicollet approves bids for street repairs
NICOLLET — The Nicollet City Council discussed street repairs at their regular meeting on July 10.
Two bids were reviewed. M. R. Paving and Excavating, Inc., of New Ulm, submitted a bid for $84,370.00 for an asphalt rubber crack repair procedure. Bargen Incorporated, of Mountain Lake, also submitted a bid for asphalt pavement maintenance services for $74,434.00.
After reviewing the bids and a discussion, the council approved the bid from Bargen Incorporated.
Bargen Incorporated also submitted a bid for a RePlay Procedure (clear seal coat) for 2 streets: Pine Street from Hwy. 99 to 2nd Street for $6,146.00 and 7th Street from Hwy. 111 to Pine Street for $5,952.00.
After review and discussion, the council approved the total bid for $12,098.00. The RePlay Agricultural Oil Seal and Preservation Agent will be spray applied in one coat. RePlay is designed to extend the life of new and existing asphalt surfaces.
Water and Sewer for Old Hwy. 14
Nicollet County will be rebuilding Old Hwy. 14, from Hwy. 111 to County Road 72, which is about a half mile stretch of road on the south side of Nicollet. At the same time the county rebuilds the road and changes it to a two lane road, the city will need to replace the 40-50 year old pipes for water and sewer that need to go under the rebuilt road.
As Nicollet County rebuilds Old Hwy. 14, they will also be working with the city to make a trail on the south side of Nicollet.
Pay Requests
The following Pay Requests were approved: 2023 Lift Station No. 2 Improvements – GM Contracting – $110,921.93; 2023 Lift Station No. 2 Improvements – GM Contracting – $156.739.02; and 2023 Lift Station No. 2 Improvements – GM Contracting – $161,153.43.
Other Business
The mayor and council approved the minutes from the June 12, 2023, regular meeting. Also approved were the bills for $242,974.82.
The next regular meeting will be Monday, August 14, at 6 p.m.
