• Felony threats of violence and misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges were filed against Russell L. Swinford, 42, 217 W. Central St., Springfield. According to court documents, Springfield Police were informed by dispatch on July 5, 2023 that someone threatened to kill an individual and they were driving around in a red Chevy registered to Russell Swinford.
Officer cook noticed a red Chevy being driven east on Rock Street. Officer Cook stopped behind the car and recognized Swinford. He asked him what happened that night and Swinford said people in a black Suburban were pointing at his vehicle and wrecking things on this car.
Swinford said he would take care of anyone he caught messing with his vehicle and that he had a small knife on his earlier that day.
Officer Cook talked with an individual on Rock Street who said he noticed a red Chevy blow a stop sign on O'Connell Avenue and Rock Street, slam on the brakes across from his house. The individual said Swinford was yelling at him and threatened to "kick your @ss" and that he wanted to "throw down," then left.
