Stately Township crash victims taken to metro medical facilities

BROWN COUNTY — A 17-year-old Sanborn female and a 44-year-old Springfield man injured in a right-angle (t-bone) crash at the intersection of Brown county Roads 21 and 2 in Stately Township Friday were transported to Twin Cities medical facilities.

Ella Grace Geis of Sanborn was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion that was hit near the driver’s door by the front end of a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jason Lee Gruendeman of Springfield at 6:50 p.m. Friday, according to a Brown County Sheriff’s Office news release. The crash sent both vehicles off the road, breaking a Brown County REA power pole about 4 miles southwest of Springfield.

Air Care 3 and Mayo 2 advanced life support helicopters landed at the scene. Gruendemann was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale. Geis was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Both drivers were listed in stable condition and receiving care for injuries, the extent of which were unknown.

Assisting at the scene were the Brown County REA which made pole repairs to restore power, Springfield Ambulance, Fire and Police, Sleepy Eye Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash is under investigation, according to Brown County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeremy Reed.
