MORTON — A 64-year-old Morton man died of injuries from a fall from a horse near Morton Sunday, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy J. Hennen was riding a horse at the bottom of an embankment along Birch Coulee Creek near 675th Avenue and 355th Street, a mile northeast Morton in Birch Cooley Township. Bystanders and emergency crews provided lifesaving measures to Hennen before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hennen was riding along the top edge of the creek when his horse lost footing and fell, causing Hennen to fall from the horse, according to a preliminary investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Morton Medical Response Unit, Morton Fire Department and CentraCare Ambulance. The accident is being investigated by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
