Nicollet’s Cruisin on Pine and 99 begins Thursday

NICOLLET -- It's Roll-In time in Nicollet
Cruisin on Pine and 99 begins on Thursday for the 2023 season. It will be held every other Thursday until Sept. 14.
The event is held 5-8 p.m. and registration is done under the tent next to Rapid Rick's Bar and Grill on Pine Street. All classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and specialty vehicles are welcome.
"There is plenty of room to display whatever classic vehicle you want to bring to our event. We average about 130-140 participants," said Lance Severin.
Severin and Angie Lingl are co-chairs on the committee for the Cruisin on Pine and 99 events.
"There are ten members who make up our committee for these events and we need each and every one of them," Lingl said.
The roll-in events have been happening in Nicollet since 2017. At that time, the committee hoped to pull from about a 60-mile radius of Nicollet. However, now that is about 100-150 miles or more.
Besides the classic vehicles, the event offers food and music.
Here are some of the details:
• Registered participants will receive a punch card to track their attendance. After attending five events in Nicollet, they will receive a free t-shirt for their sixth time participating.
• Door prizes are also part of the event. They include gift cards from local businesses, cleaning supplies from parts stores, etc. These will vary during the season's events.
• And, if you know your car parts, you might be the winner of the Mystery Car Part challenge. Winner is announced at the end of each event.
• Two nights of live music -- Starfie on June 22 and GTX on Aug. 17.
• Some local businesses will be open during the events.
• Food will be served by the Nicollet American Legion, and also Trinity Lutheran Church. Also participating as a non-profit is the Just for Kix dancers. There will also be a variety of food trucks and food stands at each event.
"Every night is different. You just never know who rolls in and I think that is what brings people back," Lingl said.
"There is always something new to see. And, it is fun to see the car clubs drive through town and also stay for the event," Severin said.
