New Ulm High School wins state Economics Challenge championship

ST. PAUL -- New Ulm High School took first place in the Joan Robinson division of the State Economics Challenge competition this week, hosted at Securian Financial.
Students competing in the Joan Robinson division are currently enrolled, or have been enrolled in the preceding semester of the same academic year, in any level of economics course at a school with a total enrollment of 600 or fewer students in grades 9-12.
New Ulm High School students, Lana Braun, Nathaniel Janssen, Ethan Lieb, and Gavin Schaefer earned the first-place title after receiving top scores in a test of microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics and current events, and quiz bowl round. The students demonstrated exemplary teamwork, critical-thinking abilities, and a strong knowledge of economics concepts.
They were coached by their social studies teacher Robbe Nessler.
