Kids dive in for Easter goodies

NEW ULM -- For a few minutes Friday afternoon, it looked like the New Ulm Aquatic Center was being used to hard boil Easter eggs, but in reality it was part of the annual Egg-Stravaganza event.
Hundreds of plastic Easter eggs were tossed into the aquatic center pool as part of hunt. After a quick countdown, over a hundred kids jumped in the pool in fast scramble to collect the eggs, their efforts churning the water into what looked like a boiling kettle. The kids who managed to get egg could turn it in for prizes.
Each kid participating in the special Easter-themed swim were given a goodie bag with candy, cookies and activity books. The younger kids even got a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, courtesy of the Students Performing on Tough Situations (SPOTS).
Park and Recreation will host another Easter Egg Hunt Saturday morning. This one will be located on dry land. The Easter event will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in North Park.
