Easter events planned in the area

BROWN COUNTY -- Easter Sunday is nearly here and several holiday events are scheduled for the weekend leading up to the holiday.
Friday, April 7
On Good Friday, April 7, the New Ulm Park and Recreation Center will host its annual Pool Eggstravaganza.
From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. the aquatic center will open for a special Easter Egg hunt. The event is designed for children 6 years and older. Children will be able to hunt for eggs all around the pool depending on their ability. The egg hunt begins at 2:30 p.m. when hundreds of eggs will be dropped into the pool for the kids to collect and turn in for a prize. All children will receive a goody bag.
Kids will be able to take part in an Easter craft and meet the Aqua Bunny.
The cost is $10 per child and $5 per child with membership.

Woodstone Senior Living Center will hosting an outdoor Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. The event will also feature live bunnies and chicks for the kids to see. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance.

At 3 p.m. Bishop Chad W. Zielinski will lead a public prayer and meditation on the stations of the cross on Good Friday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The event was originally planned to take place at the The Way of the Cross but due to Icy conditions at the stations of the cross, it was moved.
Saturday, April 8
On Saturday morning, kids in New Ulm and Sleepy Eye will be able to take part in Easter Egg Hunts. The New Ulm New Ulm Park and Rec. will host the hunt at 10 a.m. in North Park. Children will be able to get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the actual hunt beginning at 10:30 a.m.

In Sleepy Eye, the Easter Egg hunt will be held at 10 a.m. in Allison Park. The event is sponsored by Sleepy Eye Medical Center and South Point Federal Credit Union. The hunt will be divided into three age groups: 4 and under; 5-7 years and 8 and up. Each age group will hunt in a different area. The hunt starts promptly at 10 a.m.

Starting at 10 a.m. at the New Ulm Best Western Plus, the Spring Fling Shop-n-Hop craft and vendor show will begin. Families are invited to meet the Easter Bunny and shop at craft & vendor events. Free eggs for kids and discount eggs for shoppers. The event is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The August Schell brewery is inviting families to bring the kids out for some pre-Easter fun from 1 to 2 p.m. Schell's will be hiding 600 eggs in the Schell's Garden. Kids will receive free candy or a 1919 Root Beer for each egg they find (limit three). Ten golden eggs will be hidden among the rest, good for even bigger prizes. Expect a visit from the Easter Bunny.
