GAYLORD — The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 46-year-old rural Winthrop man Friday, March 10 who is expected to be charged for the death of Dennis Weitzenkamp, 79 in Transit Township Sept. 20, 2022.

Second-degree murder charges are anticipated after the arrest, according to a Sibley County Sheriff’s Office news release. he Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted the sheriff’s office.

The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 2:37 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 regarding an unresponsive person at a farm site about a mile north of Winthrop. First Responders found a man later identified as Weitzenkamp, deceased on the farm site.

Weitzenkamp’s body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office who confirmed the death was a homicide.
