New Ulm man gets stayed sentence in teen recording case

Gullickson gets up to 4 years probation

NEW ULM -- A 34-year-old New Ulm man convicted of two of four felony counts for interference with the privacy of a minor was sentenced for both cases in Brown County District Court Tuesday.

Two other interference with privacy of a minor under age 18 charges were dismissed.

Jesse James Gullickson, 2526 S. Bridge St., was sentenced to 35 months in the St. Cloud Correctional Facility, wih the sentence stayed for four years while he remains under supervised probation, monitored by the Minnesota Dept. of Corrections Field Services. He was ordered to serve 45 days in the Brown County Jail beginning Jan. 13, 2023, credited with eight days served and fined $2,420. Fines may be worked off by STS hours if available.

Gullickson was ordered to successfully complete outpatient sex offender treatment, have no contact with the victim or persons under age 18, have no contact with minor children unless pre-approved in writing by his supervising agent and treatment therapist. Contact with his child was approved and must be directly supervised.

He must complete a psychosexual evaluation and abide by recommendations, have no social media, no Internet, not use any phone sex lines, dating services, social networks or any any adult entertainment clubs or book stores. Predatory offender registration is required.

According to court documents, a teenage girl reported in July 2020 that she thought she was being recorded while showering on three occasions in June and July of 2020 at a New Ulm Mobile Village residence.

Gullickson was charged in January 2022 after the girl told New Ulm Police Gullickson recorded her in the bathroom by sliding his cell phone under the door. Detectives forensically searched his phone and found 42 photos of the girl in it.
