The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Joel Brown, the new owner of Joni’s Restaurant & Catering at 24 N Minnesota St. Joel says he doesn’t plan to change the menu much, but will add one of his favorites, a “Philly Cheese Steak.” He also plans to add a walk-up window so customers can order from the street, plus night-time hours on the weekends to capture the vibrant night life in Downtown New Ulm. Joel spent 13 years at the Lamplighter prior taking over the business on Sept. 1 of this year. Along with his two daughters, JoeI says he has a network of family and friends to help with the new adventure. Joni Ahlness, the prior owner, will remain on the staff.
