Six arrest warrants issued for St. James man

NEW ULM — An arrest warrant has been issued for a 31-year-old St. James man accused of violating an Order for Protection multiple times since January 2022.

One gross misdemeanor harassment charge and six misdemeanor domestic abuse plus an arrest warrant were filed July 18 against Codi J. Truelove, 715 3rd Ave. S. in St. James.

In addition, there are six active warrants for Truelove in Minnesota.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Cpl. Tara Martin met with a woman July 13 who reported that she received phone calls, voicemails and a message on Facebook from Truelove, who was prohibited from having contact with her after an OFP was issued Sept. 17, 2021. The OFP is valid until Sept. 17, 2023.

The woman said Truelove has multiple Facebook profiles with some version of his name and profile photo. She reported getting a voicemail from him on April 6, text messages on March 2 and April 5, and a phone call on July 14.

The woman told police that her contact with Truelock caused her to “freak out” and caused her panic attacks and emotional distress, but she did not seek anxiety therapy.

Martin called the Watonwan County Jail and asked Truelove if he wished to give a statement. He did not wish to provide a statement but asked if there was a way to stop a criminal case.
