Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School's speech team finished in third place at the 2A section tournament that was held at JWP High
School on Friday, April 8th. Of the 16 members who competed, eight of them placed in the top six, with the students who were in the top
three earning spots to advance to the MSHSL State Speech Tournment. Estrella Strackbein and Ellie Sorensen earned 6th place in duo
interpretation and Gracen Lukasek won 5th in poetry interpretation. Maggie Hamen and Canaan Selvey took 3rd place in their categories
of poetry interpretation and humorous interpretation; Caleb Tomhave and Liliana Mohror place 2nd and 3rd in original oratory; and Natalie
Hennig and Lydia Meyer won 1st and 2nd place in extemporaneous reading. The last time MVL advanced this many students to state
was in 2003. The state tournament will take place April 23 at Eastview High School in Apple Valley.
