Food trucks will last all summer long on Broadway

By Clay Schuldt 2 min read

NEW ULM -- The Tommy's Tacos food truck will be parked this spring and summer at the 326 N. Broadway St. lot.

On Tuesday, New Ulm Economic Development Authority (EDA) approved a lease agreement with Tom Johnson of Tommy's Tacos for use of EDA property at 326 N. Broadway St.

Tommy's Tacos will be joining Ted Bergstrom of B. Concessions, who also intends to operate at this lot. The EDA has approved a similar lease agreement with Bergstrom for the 2022 season.

Tommy's Tacos and B. Concession will each pay a rental fee of $150 per month to operate at the location.

The EDA Board was supportive of allowing a new food truck to operate out of the lot. The lot has been used by food vendors in past years with no complaints from downtown restaurants.

There was a question in previous years of how many vendors could comfortably operate from the lot. Two food trucks had operated from the lot last year, but board chairman Daniel Braam asked if a maximum capacity was needed.

City Manager Chris Dalton believed four food vendors could comfortably fit on the lot, with two to each side.

The lease agreement would allow the operation of Tommy's Tacos food truck on the lot from April 1 to Oct. 31.
