Plane makes unscheduled stop in New Ulm

NEW ULM — A small plane made a precautionary landing at New Ulm Municipal Airport Wednesday night.

The landing occurred around 7:15 p.m. The New Ulm Fire Department was called to the scene as a precaution, but the plane landed without incident. No injuries were reported among the passengers.

The plane was traveling from Des Moines, Iowa to Fargo, North Dakota with two adults and two children. The passengers were planning to attend a hockey tournament in Fargo.

While en route to Fargo, the pilot experienced engine troubles and decided to make an unscheduled landing in New Ulm. The Fire Department was called out as a precaution and arrived before the plane landed.

Once the plane successfully landed, local fi re fi ghters moved the plane off the main runway and tied it down outside the hangar. The plane will remain at the airport for further inspections and any necessary repairs.
