Authorities search for man facing criminal sex charge
Accused of sexually abusing child in NU
NEW ULM — Authorities are searching for a 37-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a female child in New Ulm when she was under age 13.
A felony charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge-victim under 13, actor more than 36 months older than the victim, was filed against Rene Dominguez on Jan. 5, 2022 in Brown County District Court.
According to court documents, New Ulm Police received a phone call from Greene County Iowa Sheriff’s Deputy Ashley Wilson regarding a sexual assault she was made aware of in February 2021. Wilson was contacted by a woman who said her 11-year-old daughter was touched inappropriately by Dominguez, also known as “Eden Marin.”
Wilson interviewed the child at Child’s Place in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Feb. 19, 2021.
New Ulm Police Investigator Chris Moellenhoff reviewed the video interview. The girl revealed multiple assault incidents by Dominguez. The most recent incident was in New Ulm when she was about eight years old.
The girl told the interviewer Dominguez grabbed her and made her touch him sexually. She said she tried to remove her hand but Dominguez would not let her. In addition, she said she told him to stop but he refused.
Deputy Wilson said she asked a second witness how Dominguez reacted when confronted about the sexual abuse on Feb. 9, 2021. The second witness told Wilson that Dominguez initially 1Acried, denying it happened, then left about midnight the same day in his charcoal gray pickup. She believed he is headed for Texas.
The second witness provided Wilson with Dominguez’ cell phone number, but he didn’t respond. The second witness said Dominguez most likely bought a new phone.
Dominguez has been charged in the State of Iowa for offenses done in that state to the alleged victim. His current whereabouts are unknown so a complaint-warrant was requested and granted to execute in Minnesota.
