GIBBON -- The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) school board will consider resolutions for the 2021-2023 bus drivers' association master agreement, combining polling places, and donations Nov. 15.
Under the bus drivers' association master agreement, the 2021-22 salary for a full-time, regular contracted route would be $17,300 and $17,475 in 2022-23. Full-time, regular special route pay would be $16.50/hour in 2021-22 and $16.75 in 2022-23. Full-time van driver and other part-time driving rates are $14.50/hr. for 2021-22 and $14.75/hr. for 2022-23.
Employees who have been with GFW schools for more than 10 years would receive bonuses ranging from $150 to $550 at the end of the 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 45th, and 50th year of service.
Part-time drivers will be pro-rated at 50%. All drivers will be credited for years driving for Fairfax Bus Company, Winthrop, and Gibbon. Drivers must make a written request to the central business office by May 15th of each year for longevity bonuses.
The board will also consider:
• Establishing combined polling places at the Gibbon Municipal Building, 985 1st Avenue for the City of Gibbon; Moltke, Severance, Cornish and Grafton Townships in Sibley County; and West Newton and Lafayette Townships, Nicollet County.
The Fairfax Community Center, 300 Park St., serves the City of Fairfax; Wellington, Cairo, Bandon and Camp Townships in Renville County; and Ridgely Township, Nicollet County.
Winthrop City Hall, 305 N. Main St., serves the City of Winthrop, Bismarck, Transit, and Alfsborg Townships in Sibley County; Penn and Round Grove Townships in McLeod County; and Berndotte Township, Nicollet County.
• Donations include two $1,000 Winthrop Honor Guard donations for GFW ES and athletics and a $1,000 donation from the Mark & Karen Rauenhorst Foundation for scholarships.
• Closing the end of the meeting under the Minnesota Open Meeting Law to discuss the superintendent's performance evaluation.
• GFW Elementary School Principal Jennifer Thompson's report including games like dice and cards sent home at conferences for families to play together to practice literacy and math skills.
Students have classroom book access for reading and taking books home. Thompson said many new books were added this year.
"We had our first T-Bird Way assembly and continue to work on being respectful, responsible, and safe at the elementary school," reported Thompson. "Students compete between classrooms in November to see which class shows the best example of the T-Bird Way in hallways. Hallway posters show which classrooms earn the most stars."
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15 in the Gibbon Elementary School gym.
