The Brown County Highway Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office remind motorists that CR 13 from New Ulm to Hanska remains closed while it is under construction. Motorists on the road can be fined up to $1,000 and ordered to serve up to 90 days in jail. If travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other costs will apply.

NEW ULM — The Brown County Highway Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office remind motorists that CR 13 from New Ulm to Hanska remains closed while construction continues.

Brown County Highway Engineer Wayne Stevens said road construction is “coming alone nicely,” scheduled to be complete before the end of August.

“Workers are putting shoulders on the road, guard rails by the bridge, cutting in edge rumbles and will stripe it,” Stevens said. “There have been a number of motorists on the road. More people want to cross on CR 25, which is not good in the middle of construction. There are many trucks running up and down the road. It’s a dangerous spot.”

Road closed barricades are set up to notify drivers of the road closure, according to a sheriff’s office news release. When a road is closed, it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or ordered to serve 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other costs will apply.
