Historic Kiesling House Features Hardanger Needlework on Saturday, July, 31

The historic Kiesling House will showcase a Hardanger needlework demonstration Saturday, July 31 from 1 to 4 p.m. The program includes a demonstration and displays.

The Norwegian art of hardanger will be demonstrated by Kathy Moe, a long-time crafter of this traditional embroidery. She will display examples of hardanger and will have hardanger items for sale.

This presentation complements the regular programming which includes a guided tour, a video presentation and exhibits. Explore the past at Historic Kiesling House constructed in 1861; it survived the US – Dakota War of 1862.

Learn about early pioneer settlement, customs and traditions of area immigrants and events, like the US-Dakota War of 1862, that shaped Brown County. Examine the development of community and influence of social and political issues on residents that lived in this area of Minnesota.

The Kiesling House is open Friday and Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day and by appointment. Admission is $3 per person, or free for BCHS members and for children ages 4 and under. For more information call: 507-233-2621 or email: education@browncountyhistorymn.org.
