NU man faces charges after gun incident
NICOLLET COUNTY — A 35-year-old New Ulm man faces three charges after allegedly firing a gun into the air in Lafayette June 5.
Simon L. Lindberg of New Ulm was charged with felony second-degree assault, threats of violence, and reckless discharge of a gun in Nicollet County Court Monday.
A Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office deputy said he heard gunshots after calling for Lindberg at a Lafayette residence. Lindberg was later found outside the residence and allegedly admitted he fired shots into the air.
A witness told authorities Lindberg pointed a gun at him several times during an argument, held a gun to his own head and threatened the witness and himself. Lindberg was transported to New Ulm Medical Center for evaluation.
