Farmer, trucker quickly respond to crash

Responding agencies included Gibbon Fire & Rescue, Lafayette Fire & Ambulance, the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol. County Highway 16 was closed for a time while equipment was brought in to get the semi out of the ditch.
ST. GEORGE — A farmer and a trucker who live nearby quickly responded to a one-vehicle semi tractor-trailer crash in a steep ditch on CR 16, a mile north of St. George Friday morning.
David Wendinger was outside when the crash happened.
“I saw the truck go in the ditch. I ran for my pickup right away and ran to the truck to check on the driver,” Wendinger said.
Mark Forst happened to be driving his semi tractor-trailer on CR 16 not long after the crash. He saw the truck in the ditch, stopped next to the road, and called 911 at 10:33 a.m.
The driver was injured in the accident.
Responding agencies included Gibbon and Lafayette Fire & Rescue, the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Allina Ambulance, Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance Service.
