City invites people to apply for mayor job

NEW ULM -- As of Wednesday, April 21, New Ulm is accepting applications to fill the mayoral vacancy in New Ulm.

Anyone interested in applying for the position must apply online at at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/newulmmn.

The application includes questions on the applicant's previous experience on governing boards and knowledge and willingness to perform the duties of New Ulm's mayor.

The application deadline is 4 p.m. May 9. Applicant interviews will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18. The New Ulm City Council will conduct the interviews. Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted, and an interview will be scheduled. It is expected the appointment will be made at the May 18 regular city council meeting.

The person appointed mayor will serve out the remaining term of Robert Beussman, ending Dec. 31, 2022.

New Ulm's mayor is the chief executive official in the city.
