BROWN COUNTY -- Three first-degree felony criminal sexual conduct charges involving a child under age 13, were filed against a 56-year-old Sleepy Eye man in Brown County Court March 10.
The charges allege Dale T. Postel, 117 Walnut St. S.E., Sleepy Eye, engaged in sexual actions with a person under age 13 about 20 years ago, and that he was more than three years older than the complainant.
Postel bailed out of Brown County Jail custody March 10 with conditions that he have no contact with victims, have no contact with persons under age 18, and obtain probation permission before leaving the state.
Postel's bail was set at $100,000 without conditions and $2,000 with conditions in a March 10 hearing using remote technology. A pre-trail hearing was set for 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 23.
According to the complaint, a woman told Sleepy Eye Police March 6 that her adult daughter told her she was sexually assaulted by Postel at his home.
The first woman said her daughter told her Postel sexually assaulted her multiple times from 2000 to 2005 and that the abuse began when the girl was five years old. A second woman said Postel would drug a girl in his home.
In addition, both women told police there could be up to five or six more victims and two others willing to talk to law enforcement.
The alleged victim told Sleepy Eye Police Investigator Bohnen she would stay overnight at her cousins' house in Sleepy Eye, and Postel would take her out of the room at night, she would wake up on a couch, one time on top of Postel, and her underwear was on backwards or wasn't on at all.
A second alleged victim told Bohnen she would go to Postel's house to be babysat when she was young and Postel would force her to watch porn with him while he explained what was happening in the videos to her, and ask her what she liked and did not like.
In addition, she said Postel started giving her cocaine, marijuana and alcohol when she was about 10 years old, and tried to give her alcohol mixed with sleeping pills when she was about 12.
The alleged second victim said she witnessed the pills, did not consume them, and locked herself in a bathroom and slept there one night.
Postel was arrested and taken to the Sleepy Eye Police Department. He was read the Miranda Warning and waived his right to remain silent.
According to the charges, Postel admitted to police he often babysat the girls who would have sleep overs at his residence, even after he and one of the women who talked to police broke up.
Postel admitted he had pornography in the house and watched it with one of the girls when she was nine or ten years old.
He admitted when one of the girls stayed overnight and could not sleep, he would bring her downstairs and lay her on his chest while he laid on the couch when the girl was four or five years old.
Postel said he didn't think anything inappropriate happened and couldn't remember if he touched her inappropriately.
