Dist. 84 gets ‘good news’ COVID-10 update
Supt. says one adult in quarantine
SLEEPY EYE — District 84 Superintendent John Cselovszki reported nobody was in COVID-19 isolation and just one adult was in quarantine in the school Wednesday.
“This is good news. The numbers are looking great,” Cselovszki said “We are fully (COVID-19) vaccinated K-12.”
Cselovszki said a virtual kindergarten roundup was held Monday on Google with 28 parents and students participating.
“We plan to give one-on-one building tours by appointment,” said Cselovszki.
The board unanimously approved, on a motion by Brian Nelson, seconded by Bryan Sellner, several consent agenda items:
• An open enrollment for one student tranferring out to the Minnesota Virtual Academy.
• Donations of a $500 3M grant to benefit the high school STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program, $19.41 to benefit high school student incentives and $19.41 to benefit the elementary field trip account from the Charities Aid Foundation America (CAF), and $2,775 from the L. A. Amundson Foundation for PPE (personal protective equipment) supply purchases.
• Expelling a student according to the Pupil Fair Dismissal Act. The student and parents were served written notice of the action. Parents of the student waived their rights to a hearing. The student was expelled until May 20, 2021.
• The resignations of assistant track coach Lee Carlson and agriculture instructor Adam Manderfeld.
• Hiring Julia Coulson as a long-term substitute teacher from April 6 through May 21, 2021, 34 days at $7,743.75.
