Farmers to Families Food box give away Saturday, Dec. 19 at BC Fairgrounds
NEW ULM — USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program, under the local sponsorship of Catholic Charities USA, Diocese of New Ulm, Knights of Columbus, and the Brown County Fairgrounds, will come to New Ulm on Dec. 19, starting at noon.
This is the second free food truck giveaway from the USDA Farmers to Families, sponsored by the Diocese of New Ulm. The first was on Oct, 30, with 1,200 boxes of food given out to those in need.
The Farmers to Families Food Truck will be in New Ulm again at the Brown County Fairgrounds with 25-pound boxes containing dairy products, meats, and fresh produce for those in need.
The Knights of Columbus will take the lead on this to aide in distribution and logistics. The Brown County Fairground board will be donating the Fairground location as our distribution site and the New Ulm Police Department will aid in traffic control.
With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases and business closures, now is a good time to help our neighbors. There is more hunger in our communities than there has been in many years. Please help by letting people you know become aware of this opportunity and help us to help those in need.
The food is free of charge, with no questions asked. Just show up at the Brown County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Dec. 19. Enter the Fairgrounds from the West gate (near Washington School) and proceed toward the grandstand area. The food will be given out until it is gone.
