HECTOR — A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured while working on a grain dryer, Monday, Sept. 14.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Department received a farm accident report at 10:38 a.m. Monday on the 49000 block of 740th Avenue, about 5 miles south of Hector in Martinsburg Township.

A preliminary investigation revealed the boy was 15 feet off the ground, working on the grain dryer when his legs became entangled in an auger.

The youth was extricated from the grain dryer and transported with serious injuries to Minneapolis Children’s Hospital by North Memorial Air Care.

Assisting at the scene were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Hector Fire and Ambulance, the Olivia Area Technical Rescue team and North Memorial Air Care. The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation.
