Pedestrian hit on Broadway

Staff photo by Clay Schuldt Police and EMTs assist a 69-year old woman who was hit by a vehicle Friday while crossing Broadway around 11 a.m., sustaining minor injuries. Mara Beth Fredrich, 69, of New Ulm was walking west on 1st South Street and was crossing Broadway north of the intersection. A 2012 Buick driven by Cecilia Delrose Zwaschka, 84, of Comfrey had been stopped east on 1st South Street for the stop sign at the intersection with Broadway. Zwaschka was making a left turn to go north and reported not seeing Fredrich as she crossed at the unmarked location. The Buick struck Fredrich and she landed on her left knee in the intersection. She was transported by ambulance with minor injuries.
