NEW ULM — A student was removed from New Ulm High School Wednesday following threats made on social media.

Wednesday morning the FBI relayed to the New Ulm Police Department that a student had made threats regarding New Ulm High School. A student had sent threats of a shooting/bombing to multiple students at the school.

New Ulm Police followed up on the threat and identified the student.

Superintendent Jeff Bertrang said after the school learned of the threat, a meeting was held with the student’s parents and the individual was removed from the school pending further actions. No additional students were identified as part of the threat.

Bertrang said the student making the threat had no materials for carrying out the threat.

“When students make threats like this to gain attention, it doesn’t go well for them,” he said.
