NEW ULM — The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 700 S. Broadway.

The candle lighting continues until 8 p.m. People are also invited to attend a potluck which begins at 6 p.m.

The candle lighting is in memory of our children who have died, and the group invites bereaved parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives and friends to join. You may bring a special candle to light and pictures and remembrances if you would like to share them with others.Candles will be available for those who need them. There will be an opportunity to make picture buttons so people are invited to bring a picture, and a button or a magnet will be made.

The Compassionate Friends 23rd Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting will unite grieving families through an event that begins in New Zealand at 7 p.m. with candles being lit, followed by candles being lit around the globe as each time zone reaches 7 p.m. There were over 600 gatherings open to the public last year.
