NEW ULM — The median on Broadway are getting more colorful.

Friday, work crews continue installing new banners from 12th South St to 17th North St along Hwy 14/15 (Broadway) and on 7th North Street from Broadway to Spring St. The banners depict 20 of New Ulm’s attractions, including Schell’s Brewery, the Brown County Historical Society, the Hermann Monument, and the Wanda Gag House.

The updated banner design features two banners per pole and requires new hardware needs to be constructed onto the Broadway poles. The installation process has taken place Fridays throughout the summer.

The banners will help advertise a different location in the community for locals and tourists the see.

The new banners are a collaborative project between the New Ulm Convention & Visitors Bureau, the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of New Ulm. Committee members met for more than a year to determine the style of the banners and what would be depicted on them. Under their direction, the banners were designed by Lime Valley Advertising using local photography from Kyle Krenz, Carolyn Marti Smith, Chad Wengert, Mark Boettger, Bill Pekrul, and from the Chamber of Commerce.
