NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARING
Notice is hereby given
that the Brown County
Planning Commission,
in and for the County of
Brown, will conduct
certain public hearings
as follows:
To Adopt 2040
BROWN COUNTY
COMPREHENSIVE
LAND USE PLAN
WHEREAS, Minnesota
Statutes Å’394.23 au-
thorizes each county to
review and, if neces-
sary, amend its
Comprehensive Land
Use Plan with recom-
mended decennial up-
dates ; and
WHEREAS, the Coun-
ty of Brown authorized
the review and update
of its previous
Comprehensive Land
Use Plan adopted on
March 19, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the pro-
posed Brown County
Comprehensive Land
Use Plan is a planning
tool intended to guide
the future growth and
development of Brown
County in a manner
that conforms with all
applicable planning
statutes; and
WHEREAS, the pro-
posed Brown County
Comprehensive Land
Use Plan reflects a
community planning
process involving elect-
ed officials, appointed
officials, Brown County
staff, city and township
staff, community or-
ganizations, the public
at large, and other
stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, the plan-
ning process included
the following opportuni-
ties for public input:
Two surveys (Steering
Committee priorities
and general public
draft plan review) with
20 total participants; an
interactive mapping
tool with 212 com-
ments; and a project
website with 2,836
page views and 60
subscribers. Outreach
also included local
media coverage (two
radio segments and
three newspaper arti-
cles), social media
sharing by project
partners, and extensive
in person engage-
ment through a home
show, Farm Bureau
meeting, two Steering
Committee workshops,
and three focus
groups. Additional in-
put was received via
emails, phone calls,
and informal com-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Brown
County published the
draft Comprehensive
Land Use Plan on
March 18, 2026, and
gave the public an op-
portunity to review and
comment on the plan
through April 24, 2026;
and
WHEREAS, Minnesota
Statutes Å’394.26, Sub-
division 2 requires the
Brown County Plan-
ning Commission hold
a Public Hearing on the
Adoption of the County
Draft Plan.
NOW THEREFOR BE
IT RESOLVED, that
the Brown County
Planning Commission
will conduct a public
hearing on the Draft
Comprehensive Land
Use Plan on Tuesday,
June 9, 2026, begin-
ning at 9:00 AM in the
Brown County Court-
house Room #204,
New Ulm, Minnesota.
All persons in atten-
dance will be given an
opportunity to speak on
this matter. The public
and all interested par-
ties are hereby official-
ly notified of said public
hearing.
A copy of the draft plan
is on file in the Brown
County Planning &
Zoning Office, Brown
County Courthouse, 14
South State Street,
New Ulm, Minnesota,
and may be viewed
during regular business
hours or on the Brown
County website
https://browncounty
mn.gov/228/Planning-
Zoning.
All written comments
on the plan will be read
into the record and
must be received by
Noon on June 5, 2026,
and shall be submitted
