DNR proposes to up-

date the Public Waters

Inventory for Brown

County

DESCRIPTION

The Minnesota Depart-

ment of Natural

Resources (DNR) is

seeking public com-

ments on its proposal

to update the Public

Waters Inventory (PWI)

for Brown County.

In 2024, the Minnesota

Legislature enacted

Minn. Stat. 103G.201

(f) which directed the

DNR to update the

state’s PWI. The DNR

has prepared a map

and list of preliminary

corrections which will

update the PWI for

Brown County.

The map and list of

preliminary corrections

can be viewed on the

PWI Update project

webpage (mndnr.gov/

pwi-update). The DNR will provide a

60-day public comment

period and host a pub-

lic meeting in the coun-

ty to obtain feedback

on the preliminary

corrections.

Ulm, MN, 56073.

The DNR will accept

written comments on

the preliminary correc-

tions from May 12,

2026, until 4:30 p.m.

July 13, 2026.

Comments may be

submitted online via

the public comment

tool on the PWI Update

project webpage

(mndnr.gov/pwi-

update). Written com-

ments may be submit-

ted to Public Waters

Inventory Update, Min-

nesota Department of

mitted by phone. Gen-

Any information sub-

mitted will be part of

the public record. Indi-

vidual comments will

not receive a reply.

The DNR will review

feedback received dur-

ing the comment

period and make

necessary modifica-

tions to the preliminary

map. A revised map,

now a provisional final

map, will be submitted

to the county and

made available on the

DNR’s project web-

page. Sign up for email

formation as the pro-

ject progresses.

HEARING

WHEREAS, M & D

Properties, LLC, (Ap-

plicant) and Adam and

Shanna Wels (Owner),

have filed a petition

with the City of New

Ulm to rezone from

A-OS (Agricultural –

Open Space District) to

R-3 (Medium Density

Residence District) the

property legally

described as Lot 1,

Block 1, Wels Subdivi-

sion. The street ad-

dress of the property is

2405 North Highland

Avenue.

WHEREAS, M & D

Properties, LLC, (Ap-

plicant) and Adam and

Shanna Wels (Owner),

have requested a Vari-

ance to allow up to six-

teen (16) residential

dwelling units on pro-

perty that allows for a

maximum of 15.05

residential dwelling un-

its. The lot area of the

property is 1.90 acres.

The property has been

petitioned for rezoning

to R-3 (Medium Densi-

ty Residence District).

The property is legally

described as Lot 1,

Block 1 Wels Subdivi-

sion and has a street

address of 2405 North

Highland Avenue; and

WHEREAS, the City

Code requires that

these matters be con-

sidered by the New

Ulm Planning Commis-

sion.

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED,

pursuant to the City

Code, the New Ulm

Planning Commission

will meet at 4:30 P.M.

on Thursday, May 28

th , 2026 in the City

Hall Council

Chambers, 100 North

Broadway, New Ulm,

Minnesota to consider

these matters. The

public and all interest-

ed parties are hereby

officially notified of said

hearings.

All written comments

will be read into the

record and must be re-

ceived by Noon,
