Brown County District Court

• A gross misdemeanor giving peace officer false name charge was filed May 13, 2022 against Joshua J. Dobie, 38, Cleveland.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police were asked to respond to New Ulm Mobile Village, 2526 S. Bridge St. for a domestic. Dispatch said a female involved was shoving the male and left the residence.

Corp. T. J. Ibberson did not locate the suspect vehicle enroute but eventually identified the man as Dobie after he earlier said he had no identification and said his name was “James Russman.” Dobie later told police his last name was “Rustman.”

Ibberson found a driver’s license photo of Rustman who appeared to resemble Dobie. Ibberson contacted Rustman’s Nicollet County probation agent Curt Heinrichs and said he believed an individual gave him a false name and date of birth of his client, Rustman.

Heinrichs later called Ibberson and said he contacted Rustman who said he was at work and had been at work all day. Ibberson told the suspect he was not Rustman after talking to Rustman’s probation agent.

Dobie later gave his correct name and date of birth and said he has warrants in other counties.
