Court proceedings

Brown County District Court

• Erik Douglas Wait, 34, Burnsville, was charged with felony 1st-degree drug sale and felony 1st-degree drug possession-50 grams or more Monday. Bail was set at $75,000 Thursday.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Officer Andrew Kuester stopped a 2014 Chevrolet Impala April 2 near the intersection of Broadway and 16th Street North for dark window tint and not signaling a turn.

Officer Kuester used his canine trained to detect narcotics to sniff the vehicle. The canine alerted near the vehicle radio and officer Kuester searched the vehicle but was unable to search behind the radio because the area was locked. The vehicle was towed to police impound and a search warrant was drafted and approved.

The vehicle entertainment center was pried open and a clear crystalline substance recognized as methamphetamine was found in a baggie that weighed 117 grams.

Wait was convicted of a 2nd-degree controlled substance crime May 16, 2016 in Anoka County.

Starting at $4.50/week.
