• James Allen Randall, 43, St. Cloud, was charged with felony threats of violence Monday.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Officer Christina Wright learned June 18 that a Minnesota Department of Corrections probation agent was threatened by a person on probation. Text messages from Randall were sent to the victim’s work cell phone while they were in Brown County.

The text messages were filled with obscenities, profanity and complaints about the court system.

Officer Wright asked the victim how they knew the phone number where the texts were sent from was Randall’s phone number. The victim replied they were communicating with Randall for a while and that phone number was entered in probation’s record system because Randall called in with that number and left a voicemail May 6.

A warrant issue was requested due to Randall’s history of threatening messages to public officials, as demonstrated in an earlier court file, plus the public safety concerns raised by the threats in the matter.
