Court Proceedings

Brown County District Court

• Felony third and fifth-degree assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges were filed Monday against Kayla Nicole Kokesch, 32, Hutchinson.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police and Allina Ambulance were dispatched April 13 to a residence on the 1500 block North Minnesota Street for a female not breathing. Corporal Chris Davis and Patrolman Cory Lyons found several individuals in a living room. The victim was lying on a couch, alert and conscious. The reporting party, Kokesch and a witness were in the room tending to the victim.

The victim told police Kokesch hit her. A witness told police she arrived at about 3:15 a.m. to drive Kokesch home. Cpl. Davis photographed the victim’s face that appeared to have a small cut near her right eye. The victim said her eye hurt, she experienced blurred vision and that Kokesch hit her at least twice, causing her to see white and hit the ground.

A witness said Kokesch punched the victim, at one point with a closed fist and that the victim was hit hard and unconscious for five to ten minutes.

A remote Zoom hearing was set for 8:30 a.m. May 21.
