• Larry Edward Kelly, 50, Nicollet, was charged Wednesday with gross misdemeanor 3rd-degree DWI-refusal to submit to chemical test and misdemeanor 4th-degree DWI. A remote Zoom hearing was set for 9 a.m. April 18.
According to court documents, New Ulm Police patrolwoman Christina Wright was dispatched to 8th South Street and Garden Street at 12:13 a.m. Saturday for a report of a truck hitting a house. Officer Wright noticed significant damage to a garage and vehicles inside it.
New Ulm Police Sgt. Charles Rasche noticed vehicle tracks coming from Garden Street indicating the truck left the road, went over a curb, crashed into a garage and had moderate to severe damage.
Witnesses said they saw a truck southbound on Garden Street, ran a stop sign at Center Street, was all over the road and ran over a curb before crashing into a garage.
Officer Wright saw a man in the truck driver’s seat with intoxication clues. He admitted drinking, refused to provide a preliminary breath test and was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail where he refused to provide a Datamaster breath sample.
