Court proceedings

Brown County District Court

• Anthony Nicholas Geisler, 36, New Ulm, was charged with felony 1st-degree drug sale 17 grams or more of methamphetamine within 90 days and felony 1st-degree drug possession 50 grams or more methamphetamine. Bail was set at $75,000, $50,000 with conditions Friday.

According to court documents, Minnesota river Valley Drug Task Force agents were assisted by New Ulm Police with a controlled substance investigation Thursday. A 2005 Saturn Ion was stopped after the driver was identified as having a revoked license, within a block of the River Bend Area Learning Center.

Geisler was a passenger in the car. Officer Andrew Kuester performed a canine sniff of the vehicle and got a positive alert for controlled substances presence. Police and agents searched the car and found bags commonly used to package street level quantities of drugs and digital scales. A Visa Chime card was found belonging to Geisler.

Geisler said he was a methamphetamine user and used it the day before. He was arrested for controlled substance violations and taken to the Brown County Jail. Geisler said he it not a drug dealer and sometimes providers users seeking drugs with a phone number for them to call and get them.

The suspected bags yielded a total weight of 88 grams including packaging on a non-certified scale. The weight is consistent with a trafficking/sales amount.
