• Felony escape from custody, misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer by means other than a motor vehicle, theft charges plus a felony 3rd-degree drug sale-narcotic charge and arrest warrant were filed June 22, 2023 against Jared J. Netzke, 1010 S. German St., New Ulm.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Investigator Tara Martin was asked to assist Drug Task Force (DTF) Agent Mullenbach with a probable cause arrest of Netzke for 3rd-degree controlled substance sale June 21, 2023. Martin was advised Netzke was expected to arrive at the Brown County Probation Department at 2:45 p.m.

Investigator Martin saw Netzke in the probation building lobby, told him he was under arrest for a controlled substance crime and handcuffed him. Netzke asked to talk with his probation agent, Martin escorted him to his agent’s office, then to the Brown County Jail.

After Netzke stepped out of the front probation door, he fled north, crossed Center Street without regard to traffic, forcing it to stop, and continued towards Broadway. Netzke continued to run across Center. Martin yelled for him to stop or he would be tased.

Netzke was wearing a yellow shirt, khaki shorts and white shoes while handcuffed behind his back as he fled. Netzke continued running north, through a yard, at which point Investigator Martin lost sight of him.

Multiple officers checked the area and were unable to find Netzke. His current whereabouts are unknown.

On Jan. 12, 2023, Brown Lyon Redwood Renville (BLRR) DTF Agent Wortham was contacted by a confidential informant (CI) who said Netzke offered to sell them $200 worth of Percocet (oxycodone) pills for $4 each at his residence.

The CI was given $200 of pre-recorded task force buy funds and fitted with an electronic transmitting and recording device and followed the CI to Netzke’s residence. Agent Wortham was given a clear, plastic baggie with white pills inside. The pills were Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone Bitartrate 325/10 mg, schedule II drugs. Agent Wortham counted 54 pills and Netzke took the cash.
