Grief-support camp offered for youths

MADISON LAKE, Minn. — Camp Oz, a grief-support camp for children and teens, will be hosted Saturday, Oct. 1, by Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice.

The day-long camp will be held on Lake Washington in Madison Lake, Minnesota, for children and teens ages 6 to 18 who have experienced the death of someone in their life.

Participants will be able to share their feelings of grief and participate in remembrance activities. They also may connect with peers who have experienced loss.

Activities include games, arts and crafts, music and small-group time to share about grief and loss.

Numerous volunteers are needed to hold the camp, including those with a mental health background. Interested volunteers can email Jeanne Petroske-Atkinson at atkinson.jeanne@mayo.edu or call the Hospice Department at 507-594-2989.

Camp Oz is offered free of charge. To register a child or teen, visit mayoclinichealthsystem.org and search for “Camp Oz.”

Registrations will be accepted through Sept. 23.
